I must admit, I wasn't a huge Katy Perry fan. Prior to seeing her newly released movie, Part Of Me, I had a few of her songs on my iPod. Songs like, I Kissed Girl, Thinking of You, Firework, E.T, and Hot N Cold. Being a HUGE music fan I'm always down to check out documentaries about artists/musicians and their journey on becoming a star.
However this film was not like the others. It was far more interesting as Katy Perry takes you on a ride through her life, her struggle at being noticed, the hard work she put into making her dream a reality and of course something all girls and women of all ages can relate to; heartache. I was very surprised that she would share such a personal hardship, but applauded her when it only made her a better performer. I love how she's a kid at heart, a hard-worker, a go-getter and person who swallows her tears seconds before going on stage to perform in front of thousands of fans. If I had to descrbe Katy Perry in one word it would be; GENUINE
.
One of my favorite parts of the movie are the performances she shared of her most popular hits. I loved the whole Candyland theme and her outrageous make-up and costumes that make HER Katy Perry. She's all about the bling bling, the glitter and the glam! I left the movie on a musical high and I myself felt like I was her, that I WAS Katy Perry. I have offically become a Katy Cat! You can catch this film in a theatre near you. Let me know your thoughts!
P.S. Depsite a few curse words here and there it's definitely ok for the pre-teens ;)
